Liam Kenneth Braham arrived four weeks early (!!) on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 6:18 am, weighing 5 pounds, 7 ounces, and measuring 19 1/2 inches long.
While Matt and I were eating an early dinner of BBQ chicken and preparing to go to a Skysox baseball game (one of the many activities Matt and I had added to our calendar, since we were planning to “live it up” during the last month of pregnancy—so much for the best laid plans!), my water broke! Talk about a surprise. I won’t belabor you with the details (bad pun), except to say that Liam’s birth was au natural and a truly wonderful experience…and no, I never thought I would say such a thing. Matt was an amazing support—chalk one up for Team Braham! We also had some fantastic nurses and a great doctor. Thankfully, even though Liam is what’s considered “pre-term,” he is healthy and happy. Grandma Feller (my mom—also known as Mimsie) came out last week and loved on little Liam with loads of hugs and kisses, plus a LOT of diaper changes. Having Grandma around was like being on vacation! We miss her already, but we’re excited that in a few weeks she’ll be back with Grandpa! Liam is already warming up for his first game of whiffle ball. Haha!
And because the first picture doesn’t really do Liam justice, I’ll overshare with a few more, including his serious cone head in the first one. That sucker didn’t last long…whew!
Check out that contented smile—it’s because Grandma is holding him. She has a certain magic about her…
I’m sure Liam will work his way into the blog every once in awhile, but for now, he’s mainly working his way deep into our hearts. Okay, I’m tearing up again…my postpartum hormones are definitely on overdrive. Oh, and if you’re wondering about the nursery, it was almost finished when Liam arrived, and we were able to finalize things last week. I’ll try to post about it soon. But for now, it’s off to bed. Gotta sleep when the baby sleeps!
He is so sweet! Congratulations!! We are so happy for you!

ReplyDeleteLots of love to all THREE of you. Grma. xoxo
Yay! He is beautiful! A huge congratulations! Many many blessings! Let the fun begin. ;)
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! He is so cute!! I love his extra skin on his arm in one of the pics. I would LOVE to hear more labor details. I love labor stories. I know what you mean about not getting everything done before the baby comes. Jayla was 3 1/2 wks early and I didn't have everything ready. Nothing like a Babies R Us run 3 days after she was born:) Anyways, I am so happy for you. Being a mom is the greatest thing!! Enjoy every minute!
ReplyDeleteI'll get you the labor details soon, Joy. : ) And we totally did the whole Target/Babies R Us run a few days after his arrival! Craziness...
ReplyDeleteMany congratulations. Just adorable!
ReplyDeleteJess & Matt

ReplyDeleteJoy just filled me in on your little liam news!! First off, I absolutely LOVE the name hence I have a little guy named Liam:). Second off, he is a really cute baby!! Not all babies are so adorable, but he is just precious!
ReplyDeleteI check your blog often, but I have to admit...its been awhile since I have been busy with a newborn as well. Joy sent me the birth story you sent her, so I am off to go read that now:). I just love birth stories.
Congrats!!!!!
