Celebration Cancellation - Kinda…

We were all set to celebrate Liam’s first birthday (ah!) with a bunch of friends this weekend, but when he threw up eight times on Thursday, we decided to nix those plans.  Since his actual birth date is May 23, we’ll be sure to throw a mini bash next week complete with cake smashing and balloons. 

In spite of all the goodness/craziness we’ve had this week (Aunt Hannah’s visit, grading scads of essays, Matt officially being promoted at ePlus, sickness…), we’ve had a relaxing weekend overall—mainly because we cancelled everything on our calendar in order to rest and recover.  It was hard cancelling Liam’s party.  It was hard saying no.  And it’s been a very good thing.  Snuggling has been the name of our game over the past few days…

Of course, the grandparents didn’t cancel their gifts, so we were able to snag some playtime in the backyard.  Even though Liam has been super lethargic since Thursday, he perked right up after Matt put together the water and sand table from Gma Mimsie and Gpa Popsie.  Perhaps the flu was a ploy? 

These are the very first two photos we snapped…no lie.  The kid knows what he wants, and apparently sand is at the top of his list.  We thought the lesson might be learned after his first gritty mouthful, but he didn’t seem to mind it…

I have a feeling this will be quite the summertime hit!
